Two NYC Cops shot by an Illegal Immigrant

The Venezuelan accused of shooting two NYPD cops entered the U.S. illegally last year but had his immigration case dismissed.

Bernardo Castro Mata, 19, had an immigration hearing in Chicago on May 6, during which an immigration judge closed his case.

Mata is accused of shooting one NYPD officer in the chest and another in the leg after they tried to stop him on a moped in Queens.

The cases are closed without a decision on their asylum claims, removing them from the legal system and no longer requiring check-ins with authorities
