In folklore, a revenant is a spirit or animated corpse that is believed to have been revived from death to haunt the living. The word revenant is derived from the Old French word revenant meaning 'returning '.

Poltergeist is a German word that means "noisy ghost". Poltergeist ghosts can manipulate the physical environment, move objects, engage in physical attacks or ignite fires.
