In this video, we discussed the key players in import supply chain risk management, with a focus on ISF agents and customs brokers. ISF agents are responsible for gathering and submitting import information required by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) before imports arrive at the port of entry. They work closely with importers to ensure accurate and timely filing of the Importer Security Filing (ISF). This filing is crucial in complying with the 10+2 rule, which mandates the submission of 10 data elements from the importer and 2 data elements from the carrier. Using an ISF agent brings benefits such as expert knowledge of regulations, access to automated systems for streamlined filing, and the ability for importers to focus on other aspects of their business.

On the other hand, customs brokers act as intermediaries between importers and government agencies, facilitating the clearance of imported goods through customs. Engaging the services of a customs broker offers advantages such as expertise in customs laws, identification and mitigation of risks, and optimization of import operations.
