BYD calls out the US and Europe for being ‘afraid’ of Chinese EVs

BYD's CEO Wang Chuanfu accuses the US and Europe of fearing Chinese electric cars,

hinting at concerns about low-cost Chinese EVs.

He emphasizes that the West's fear is a testament to the strength of China's auto industry.

The US and Europe have increased tariffs on China-made imports,

including EVs, batteries, and critical minerals,

as global trade tensions heat up.

Despite this, BYD is expanding overseas and expects to overcome potential impacts of tariffs with two planned plants in the region.

The automaker is not only known for affordable EVs

but is also expanding into new segments, such as mid-size SUVs, luxury vehicles, and pickup trucks.

BYD's new electric SUV undercuts Tesla's Model Y in China,

and it has also launched its first pickup in Mexico,

competing with top-selling trucks like Toyota's Hilux and the Ford Ranger in the region.
