AFRICANS ON PALESTINE: WHY WE CARE

African Stream was on the ground at a 8 June pro-Palestine demonstration in Washington to ask, 'Why should Africans care about Palestine?' Event organizers estimate 100,000 people arrived in Washington to hold the 'People’s Red Line,' a red banner that wrapped for 2 miles around the White House. It contained the names of the nearly 37,000 Palestinians Israel has k*lled since the 7 October escalation in the 76-year Israeli occupation of Palestine. The banner represented the red line that US President Joe Biden claims Israel hadn’t crossed when it attacked the southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah last month. Early on, Israel had told Palestinians Rafah was safe, leading about 1.5 million to leave their homes and shelter there in tents.

After the demonstration, a 'People’s Court of Justice' convened to try Israeli and U.S. officials, weapons companies and corporate media for crimes against Palestinians.
