GALLOWAY: BRITAIN WROTE THE PALESTINIAN DISASTER

Speaking at a Workers Party meeting in Blackburn, in northwest England, member of the UK Parliament George Galloway ripped the British political establishment for its role in creating and perpetuating the calamity in Palestine.

Listen as he refers to the heyday of the British Empire, when Foreign Minister Arthur Balfour wrote the now-infamous ‘Balfour Declaration’ in 1917, promising Palestine as a homeland for the Jews, even though Palestinians inhabited the land. Before that, parts of Africa had been considered for a Jewish state.

For the past 107 years, and particularly since the establishment of Israel in 1948, Britain has supported the settler-colonial state’s displacement, murder and subjugation of Palestinians.
