After his crew starts dumping their personal problems on him, Vince concedes to go with Jacob to check out a distress beacon supposedly set off by his father - who Jacob's had no relationship with and hasn't spoken to in years. So they touch down on the island his father's crew had been stranded on for twelve years and Lo and behold, the people have lost their minds.
