Man wanted for a shooting incident shot by cops after the suspect produced a gun and wounded a cop

On May 24, 2024, Baltimore Police Officers were patrolling in the area of 3400 block of S. Hanover Street, when they identified a person of interest for a shooting incident at happened four days prior. They approached the male to question him. During the interview, the man stood up and pointed a gun at officers. Officers gave several verbal commands to drop the gun, but he did not comply. An exchange of gunfire took place, during which the man and one officer was struck. Both were taken to an area hospital for treatment. The man, later identified as 39-year-old Anthony Ferguson, was pronounced deceased a short time later. The officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
