When Churches Stop Confessing That The Pope is Antichrist

One of the warning signs that Presbyterians in the United States no longer understood the implications of justification by faith alone came in the year 1903. It was in that year that the Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. took exception to the Westminster Confession of Faith's teaching that the pope of the Roman Catholic Church is Antichrist. Before that 1903 revision, the Westminster Confession of Faith taught:
