Stopping Thermonuclear War: What Next?

Yesterday’s National Press Club Emergency Conference, “The Danger of Nuclear War Is Real, And Must be Stopped, “ sponsored by the Schiller Institute, was, in several ways, highly successful. Panelists Scott Ritter, Col. Richard Black, Col Larry Wilkerson and Schiller Institute founder, Helga Zepp-LaRouche, were heard by nearly 2,000 people live, and tens of thousands more over the subsequent hours. At the same time, the danger is escalating each day; yesterday the United States passed more sanctions against Russia, even as Russia nuclear-capable (but unarmed) ships visited Cuba, on what was referred to by the Pentagon as “not out of the ordinary.”

It didn’t make headlines in the Western press, but on June 7, the 78th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) unanimously adopted a China-proposed resolution to designate June 10 as the “International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations.” Lin Jian, a spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign ministry said on Tuesday that the international community's unanimous support for this initiative demonstrates that Xi Jinping’s Global Civilization Initiative (GCI) is in line with the trend of the times and meets the needs of the era. We must seize this moment, when international support is at its highest, and the danger of total war, by design or by accident, is at its greatest, to break out. In the United States, best way to do that is through the Independent candidates Diane Sare, United States Senate candidate for Newark York State, and Jose Vega, Bronx Congressional candidate. Both of them will address tonight’s meeting.
