"HOLY GROUND" - CORT CARPENTER

Country music artist Cort Carpenter is the son of my high school health teacher and one of our football coaches. His mother was in charge of an elite dance team and cheer squad at our school, Kelso High School in Kelso, Washington. Cort and his brother Rhett excelled in sports at Kelso High, then at Lower Columbia College in Longview, Washington - just across the Cowlitz River from Kelso.

Cort moved to Nashville to pursue a career in country music after college. On one of his visits back to Kelso/Longview years ago, Cort recorded this music video to go along with his sentimental song about his, and my, hometown. I was born and raised in Kelso/Longview, and I lived there for the majority of my life.
