John Deere 42” Freedom Deck, Broken Timing Belt

In this video, we'll tackle the topic of a broken timing belt on a 42" Freedom mowing deck from a John Deere LT155 lawn tractor. Have you ever wondered how these components work together to keep your JD mower cutting grass smoothly? Well, today we're going to check out a broken timing belt and its role in driving both mower blades.

Firstly, let's take a look at the timing belt itself. It's a cogged or notched belt that wraps around the drive pulley, ensuring that when engaged, it turns the other blade as well. This synchronization is crucial for proper functioning and efficiency and if set up properly will keep the mower blades from banging into each other and causing damage.
