Point of Rocks historic site

The monotonous prairie of western Kansas is broken by a sudden elevation drop and the appearance of woodland at the Cimarron River valley, where the historic Santa Fe Trail once passed by. Just off the highway north of Elkhart, an unpaved road leads to the top of a small promontory overlooking the valley known as Point of Rocks. It is an interesting spot. There are places were the scars of the trail are still visible in the landscape.
