Air, Sea, Blue

This song was written shortly after my younger sister passed away. What you see in the picture above is her cremated remains that were poured out into the sea.
She overdosed on OxyContin after battling opiate addiction for over two years. She is not someone who seemed likely to succumb to this.
This song expresses the futility I felt in desiring to connect with her both before and after her early demise.
It also brings to mind how the opiate crisis has evolved… over one-hundred thousand Americans are prematurely taken every year from the Fentanyl crisis. Every time I hear about another young person who was taken too soon, I think of my sister who passed away when she was only 28 years old. She was a single mom that left behind one son. Please pray for her son if you feel led to do so.
