David relied on God's guidance, whether trying to help a town from Philistine terrorism, trying to know if the people would reveal his whereabouts to King Saul, or escaping from where he was hiding. In any case, he never forced towns to change their allegiance from King Saul to himself or threatened them so they would not help King Saul find him. He never thought of rebelling or fighting back King Saul. He simply ran away.
