More than 550 people died in Mecca during the Hajj

Among the dead were 323 Egyptians, about 60 pilgrims from Jordan and 35 from Tunisia. They came to perform the traditional pilgrimage to the holy Muslim sites of Mecca and Medina.

The main causes of death were crushes, fires in tents and other accidents related to the heat. According to media reports, the temperature in the main mosque of Mecca reached +51°C this week.
