CAN EUROPE BE TRUSTED?

Did Europeans ever act in good faith towards Africans? That’s the question asked in this clip by former Big Brother Africa 9 contestant-turned-social media commentator @samanthajannsen - responding to an accusation of hate in the comments.

For 500 years, Africa has received the short end of the stick - starting with slavery, which uprooted millions from the motherland, and irreversibly altered communities; and continuing with colonialism, where a minority of White people dictated (exploitative, abusive) policy to a majority of Africans in their native lands.

Even today, the unequal dynamics between the West and Africa smack of neocolonialism: debt is used as a tool of control, reparations are never on the agenda and we’ve been thrown under the bus regarding climate change.
