TOPICS: Weeks after President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump publicly criticized the Commission on Presidential Debates, opting instead to participate in media-produced forums, the organization officially canceled its planned debates for the general election, including one at Texas State University. The Commission on Presidential Debates informed the university late Monday that it was canceling all three of its 2024 dates, one of which was set to occur on Sept. 16 in San Marcos, school officials confirmed. Texas State had paused its planning and expenditures related to work on the debate after the campaigns of President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump announced their new plan last month.
