JULIAN ASSANGE: How a journalist became a 'generational hero'

Sky News Australia takes a deep dive into the key moments of Julian Assange’s life and the many cases brought against him. Mr. Assange was born in Townsville, Australia. He founded WikiLeaks in 2006, which leaked some of America’s biggest secrets. In 2010 it published footage of a US airstrike in Baghdad which killed almost a dozen civilians.
Later that year a Swedish court ordered Assange’s arrest over rape allegations.
Mr. Assange denied the accusations and claimed he was being set up. His lawyer, Mark Stephens, labelled the alleged victims as “honey pots”.
Mr. Assange accepted a plea deal with the US Justice Department, allowing him to be released from prison. People are reacting to the news on social media.
