He was 25 and his plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire and crashed in Burma on December 1, 1943. His family asked for disinterment from the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu in October 2020. McLauchlan will be buried on July 8 at the Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery in Kansas.
