The Joplin and Springfield Railway

There's a little railway
two miles long
down on a farm in Missouri
built by a man and wife by hand
by the name of Dave and Virgie

Well it took 'em a while
but they got it done
and they thought it'd sure be fun
to give free rides on the Fourth of July
and Halloween for everyone

So all aboard
the Joplin and Springfield
Railway's rollin 'round the bend
for a mile up to the farm pond
through the woods and back again

But then one year
some crooks spoiled the fun
by stealin' parts off of the engine
but the news spread 'round
and the parts were found
and The Joplin and Springfield was back up and runnin'

So all aboard
The Joplin and Springfield
Railway's runnin' once again
for a mile up to the farm pond
through the woods and 'round the bend

Dave and Virgie built it side by side
layin' track on into the night

So all aboard the Joplin and Springfield
Railway's rollin' round the bend
for a mile up to the farm pond
through the woods and back again
