Cort Adeler

The story of the life of one of Norway's greatest naval heroes of all time provides a fascinating and knowledgeable account of 17th century maritime and military history. Cort Adeler traveled to the Netherlands in 1637 at the age of fifteen to learn navigation and mathematics, and after a short time joined the Dutch navy, before going into Venetian service in the war against the Turks and ending his exciting and colorful life as admiral general in the Danish-Norwegian navy.
