Night of the Porkies? 2nd Large Porcupine Roaming Grounds

The pitch dark recons are the best (except for the never-explained sets of eyeshine that flee) for seeing SOMETHING. Low 50s so no bug hassles; concentrated on the corridor-like wagon track access to the upper gate.

Pitch dark recons are the WORST for same reason. Turtles, toads, frogs and giant wolf spiders (sometimes in pairs) ... and snakes, of course, appear. The porkies are mild creatures but one thing I would NOT want to stumble into (duh). Yeah, kind of obvious yet still hope they see me first.

On the porcupines-throwing-quills myth, the first porkie video cheerfully shows how they'll shake like a wet dog which detaches any loose ones and acts as intolerant proximity triggers. Much like the cholla cactus in Arizona with those damn spine balls that break off at the slightest touch and rating the slang "Jumping Cholla."
