Burnout Vs Depression. 💙
Let's look at the similarities and differences of burnout and depression. They can look very similar... people who're suffering from depression and burnout will often be excessively tired or exhausted, they will have irritability, frustrations, they will have a lack of empathy, they will have social withdrawal, and they will probably have trouble thinking and concentrating. 💙
So those are the similarities. The differences are that burnout is specific to an external source of stress. And if that stressor was to be removed, then the person with burnout would recover because it's due to an external source of stress. 💙
Whereas someone in depression, those things, those external stressors can make depression worse, but the depression itself is an internal thing. It's about how the person feels about themselves, it's about how they talk to themselves, it's about how they think about themselves. 💙
