WHAT RILEY WORE

In this book created for lower elementary school aged children from 5 to 8 years old, we find the protagonist, Riley, believing that being a boy or a girl is dependent upon the costume that Riley chooses to wear that day. I would like to ask this adult author how she feels her work will scholastically, psychologically, physically, and spiritually enrich the lives of children of this age? I’d also like to ask the schools why they believe children should be exposed to this subject matter without the knowledge or consent of the child’s parents?
