CONNEX Slim Book laptop battery swelling up and bloating computer. Can it work without a battery?

My Connex Slim Book suddenly switched off and then I noticed ithe shape had changed. So we delve into the problem, which might just be the case of quite a lot of problems people have with CONNEX laptop computers. Can I remove the battery myself? Will the laptop work on the charger power only?
