Rickie Lambert on his transfer drama to Bristol Rovers. Bristol Rovers legend Rickie Lambert has opened up about the drama surrounding his move to the club, and how he thinks he was only manager Paul Trollope's third choice as a transfer target.

Lambert joined Rovers from Rochdale on transfer deadline day in the summer of 2006, and explained how the move came about late in the day.

"It was a last minute move on the night of the deadline, and it was a tough few months for me after that. I struggled until that goal against [Bristol] City made it a bit easier.

"To be honest, I think I wasn't one of his first choices believe it or not. I was third choice I think. He just tried me at the last minute to see if I would come, I ended up negotiating on the way down in the car.
