Designated as a pilot city for the zero-waste initiative by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China in 2019, Chongqing has made significant strides. Chongqing’s downtown achieved full incineration of raw domestic waste with zero landfill in 2021. The city has also established 330 green factories, 28 industrial parks, and 1,500 "waste-free points" across daily life sectors.
