A pair of new courts are coming to Kent County

This comes after county officials say there has been an increase in the number of domestic violence homicides and near fatal incidents which start as domestic incidents. The courts will be in Grand Rapids and Kentwood and will offer not only support for victims of domestic violence, but will also offer a 52-week intervention type program for defendants. Defendants will meet with counselors and therapists to try to get to the root of what causes the violence. The courts are expected to launch later this month.
