Live As Examples of Christ

Pastor Martin Continues through the 7-Item List for Christian Living found in Hebrews 13.

Today, we focus on the sixth point: **Remembering Church Leadership**.
Verse: Hebrews 13:7
"Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct."

**Remembering is powerful**. It's an intentional act of directing our memory in a useful and Godly manner. As 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 explains, we can control what we remember and focus on, shaping our present experience.

**The Mind Needs Direction**:
- Romans 8:2-11 tells us that we can choose to be guided by the Spirit of God or by our flesh. The mind should be set on things of the Spirit, leading to life and peace.

### Three Roles of Church Leaders:
1. **Rule (Lead)**:
- Church leaders should lead by example, imitating Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1). They should not be authoritarian but serve others, as Jesus taught in Matthew 20:25-28.

2. **Speak the Word of God**:
- They are responsible for preaching and teaching the word of God (Romans 10:1-15, 2 Timothy 4:1-5, Acts 20:22-32). They must be diligent and faithful in their teaching.

3. **Live as Examples of Christ**:
- Leaders should live in a manner worthy of their calling (James 3:1-18, Romans 2:21-24). Their conduct should reflect Christ's teachings and serve as a model for others to follow (Matthew 7:15-20).

#### Dangers of Worldly Leadership in the Church:
- When church leadership mirrors worldly leadership, it can lead to destructive outcomes (2 Peter 2:1, Revelation 2:20).

#### Closing Reminder:
- **Hebrews 13:8**: "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever."
- **Hebrews 13:9**: "Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines. For it is good that the heart be established by grace, not with foods which have not profited those who have been occupied with them."

**Reflection**: Remembering and respecting church leadership is crucial for maintaining a healthy and vibrant faith community. Leaders are called to serve, teach, and live exemplary lives, reflecting Christ in all they do.
