Following the attempted assassination of Trump, Biden stated, "Violence in America is just not appropriate." However, Walsh points out the contrast between Biden's current stance and his past rhetoric against Trump supporters.

“This is the same Joe Biden, who has spent the last several years referring to MAGA Republicans as an existential threat to democracy. It’s the same Joe Biden, who said that Trump and his supporters will supposedly bring about the end of the rule of law in this country, but on Saturday night, he seemed to not believe any of that.”
