The revolt of the ten tribes that split from Judah and the house of David was sanctioned by the Most High, YAH (1 Kings 11:9-11), but Jeroboam--the first king of the northern kingdom of Israel--set up golden calf idols in Bethel and Dan so that the Israelites wouldn't return to Jerusalem (1 Kings 12:26–30). Throughout the history of the northern kingdom of Israel (Ephraim), they were idolators and none of their kings were righteous. The annals of the northern kingdom is rife with the short reigns of usurpers and was ultimately destroyed in 722 B.C.E. by the Assyrians while the sourthern kingdom of Judah was destroyed in 586 B.C.E. by the Babylonians. The Israelites returned to Jerusalem and built the Second Temple circa 516 B.C.E., but they were destroyed again in 70 C.E. by the Romans. It is now 2024 C.E. and the Israelites remain in exile/captivity unto this day. Jeremiah 50:33 "Thus says YAH of hosts; The children of Israel and the children of Judah were oppressed together: and all that took them captives held them fast; they refused to let them go." But may YAH fill as many of us as He will with wisdom so that we can endure the days of His wrath upon Israel with strength until the days of His goodness upon Israel come. Jeremiah 31:28 "...it shall come to pass, that like as I have watched over them (the Israelites), to pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to afflict; so will I watch over them, to build, and to plant, says YAH."
