Jesus said, "I NEVER knew you. Depart from me!" But Why?

Christians often post memes, videos, and written posts about Matthew 7:23, saying it is the scariest Bible verse. However, they only post the first part of the verse, "I never knew you. Depart from me," and NEVER finish the verse where Jesus says why he's telling the people to get away from him. He goes on to say, "you who work lawlessness."

Christians who believe that we don't have to follow the law post a half-truth, ignoring what Jesus said and effectively twisting Jesus' doctrine and the Gospel.
