Did Joseph of Egypt Interact With The Jaredites?

The Book of Mormon has a thin history of a people called the Jaredites who populated Ancient America beginning in the third millennia BC and lasting until about 300 BC when their culture dissolved due to war and strife. However, their record made mention of Joseph of Egypt and the fact that the Americas would become the location of a New Jerusalem built by his progeny.
