The Motor Industry's Most Shameful Moment - Tucker 48

In one of history's most notable scandals, the Tucker 48 was the brainchild of the eponymous Preston T. Tucker, who envisaged a highly advanced car for the masses that would break the stagnation of the Detroit Big Three following years without new models due to the disruption of World War II, Tucker presenting a machine that had all the makings of what could have been one of America's greatest automotive triumphs.

Such was the potential for this car, that the American motoring giants sought to destroy it through whatever means necessary in order to save their position on the market, and thus employed various political weapons to help ensure that the Tucker 48 would never reach mass-production, thus leading to one of the most shameful moments in the history of the automotive industry.
