The Brasher Doubloon (1947)
"The Brasher Doubloon" (also known as "The High Window") is an American film noir released in 1947, directed by John Brahm. The plot follows private detective Philip Marlowe, hired by a wealthy widow to investigate the theft of a rare coin, the Brasher Doubloon. As he delves into the case, Marlowe uncovers a complex web of blackmail, murder, and hidden secrets among the family members and acquaintances of the widow. The film stars George Montgomery as Philip Marlowe, Nancy Guild as the widow's daughter, and Conrad Janis as a young coin collector.
