Vets with Nets is a 501(c)(3) in Monroe, Michigan that host one major event a year where they take a large number of veterans on a weekend retreat to do some walleye fishing and build comradery with the other veterans and the boat captain’s. The annual event is the largest event of its type in North America. This past event was June 7th and 8th and they had over 300 boats.
What a tremendous event it was! Veterans and Captains from 24 different states, and 3 different countries attended this event! How awesome is that?
Such a gratifying experience volunteering to captain a few Vets on the Great Lake Erie for a day of walleye fishing! We are forever indebted to these brave men and women who sacrifice and risk it all, to protect the freedoms we enjoy here in the greatest country on earth! Giving back be it even in the smallest ways, like a day on the water, can really make you feel proud of yourself and all the great people who stepped up to make this event possible. Looking forward to next year!
