Blossom end rot

Tomatoes are among our choice edibles when summer arrives. Fresh tomatoes from the garden are a sure treat, so it can be disappointing to see tomatoes on your plant with ‘rotting’ bottoms. Blossom end rot in tomatoes (BER) is a common problem for gardeners. Its cause lies in a plant’s inability to absorb enough calcium to reach the fruit. If the gardener is lucky, only a few fruits will be affected. What to do when this happens is to water more often and add, ground eggshells(as a choice) Bell peppers, eggplant, and squash can be subject to blossom rot as well.
