In Greek mythology, Chaos is the primordial void or abyss that existed before the creation of the universe. It can also refer to an early state of the cosmos when matter was undifferentiated and indistinguishable. Chaos is often depicted as an empty, formless, and infinite space, and is associated with the darker aspects of the universe. Chaos was said to unite with his daughter, Nox (Nyx in Greek), and they created the Island of Creation. They created Terra (Gaia) and Caelus (Ouranos)
