"Detour" is an American film noir released in 1945, directed by Edgar G. Ulmer. The plot follows Al Roberts, a down-on-his-luck pianist who hitchhikes to California to reunite with his girlfriend. Along the way, a series of unfortunate events lead him to assume the identity of a dead man and fall under the control of a manipulative femme fatale, Vera. As he becomes entangled in a web of lies and murder, Al's life spirals out of control, leading to a desperate attempt to escape his fate.
