In the course of aerial reconnaissance of the AFU positions, the paratroopers located main firepower and command posts of the enemy, which were suppressed by aviation and artillery strikes.

The paratroopers on the BMD-2 airborne assault vehicle and the T-80 tank equipped with the mine-clearing roller approached the AFU positions under intensive enemy fire and started performing the combat task.

The BMD-2 gunner with the call sign Orel recalls tense moments while dropping off infantry in front of the enemy stronghold:

'We had to get to the stronghold and launch a barrage of fire so that the enemy couldn't raise his head. We worked well, perfectly. The moment of opening fire was at a distance of 50-80 metres. Our infantry was dropped off about 30-40 meters away from the target. While our infantry dropped out of the vehicle, I opened covering fire so that our troops could launch a proper assault at the forest belt.'

The paratroopers entered the forest belt and with the fire support of the armoured groups suppressed the enemy's resistance, destroying the AFU units they were opposed by small arms fire and hand-held fragmentation grenades.
