5. Deadpool, like Ryan Reynolds, relies heavily on facial expressions to get you to like him. The hope was to get that in-camera but with the mask’s hard-shell design there was no way. VFX house WETA came in, shot reference footage, and, you could say, gave Reynolds over 250 facials. [“money shot” clip]

4. For the scrapyard fight between Angel Dust and the 7 ½ foot tall Colossus, Gina Carano performed the choreography in two passes: once with the stuntman who’s a dainty 6’11, and then by herself fighting thin air so the mo-cap CGI character could be added later.
