A marathon swimmer from Michigan plans to make another attempt to swim across Lake Michigan.

Beginning August 6th, Jim Dreyer plans to swim from McKinley Beach in Milwaukee to City Beach in Grand Haven. Dreyer conquered a 60-mile swim across Lake Michigan back in 1998. This time he hopes to navigate on his own, without a guide boat. He tried another swim from Wisconsin to Michigan last summer, but bad weather forced him to end the swim after 12 miles.
