Instead of focusing on isolated facts or objects or physical items per se the impressionist deals with the visual phenomena such as color notes and color relations. This is a discussion of the importance of understanding what those elements and relationships do, what they put into play, and not simply what they are.

QUESTION: Talk about what things are 'doing.' You speak of what colors are doing, what edges are doing. Need to understand that better.
