Removing a Rotten Transom on a Wellcraft 21 Coastal Part 1

I have removed the old rotten plywood from the transom of a Wellcraft 21 coastal. It seemed like the previous owner removed the center section of the transom when replacing the outboard but did nothing with the sides where the plywood is saturated with water and falling apart. My plan is to replace it with brand new plywood but paint the plywood with epoxy and maybe cover it with two layers of fiberglass prior to glassing it into the transom.
