Judging God's Chosen- Word from the Lord

The Lord has spoken to me many times about people the Lord is planning to rise in His kingdom that might not look like what we are expecting, so how can we know who is sent from Him? How can we judge righteously? Will we be able to recognize a move of God even if it looks different from what we are expecting?
