Although Evan Gershkovich of the "Wall Street Journal" and former US Marine Paul Whelan were caught in the act of knowingly breaking the law and extracting information under the guise of secrecy, for which prison sentences of hundreds of years are imposed in the US, both are at home presented as heroes, while US President Joseph Biden, despite the evidence, claimed that they were unjustly convicted in Russia.
