Honoring God With Your Money: First Fruits

Nehemiah Chapter 10: Nehemiah and the Jews completed the wall in 52 days, a remarkable feat despite all the distractions from the enemy. Chapters 7-9 addresses taking of the census and reestablishing the city and the Law of Moses among the people; confession of sin and a willing separation of the people to the law of God including honoring God with tithes and offerings.

Nehemiah 10:35 “…that they may bring the first fruits of our ground and the first fruits of all the fruit of every tree to the house of the LORD annually”
First Fruits: in Hebrew is Bikkurim: The promise to come.

Exodus 23:16: “Also you shall observe the Feast of the Harvest of the first fruits of your labors. Verse 19: You shall bring the choice first fruits of your soil into the house of the LORD your God. Verse 20-23: “Behold, I am going to send an angel before you to guard you along the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared; …But if you truly obey his voice and do all that I say, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries. For my angel will go before you and bring you in to the land…and I will completely destroy them.

Proverbs 3:9-10 “Honor the LORD from your wealth and from the first fruits of all your produce; so, your barns will be filled with plenty and your vats with new wine.”
