Walt Disney's Happiest Millionaire Comes To Hollywood (1967)
Voice of Disneyland Dick Tufeld his theatrical featurette was a newsreel released to advertise the original release of The Happiest Millionaire. This historical document shows what it was like on the night of June 23, 1967 when the film premiered at the Pantages Theater for a special screening to raise money for Walt's school, Calarts. A string of popular celebrities of the era are seen as well as a Disney rarity; a walk around character of George the Alligator from the film. It's a historical record of the time period.
Happiest Millionaire was hoped to be the first of a string of musicals kicked off by Mary Poppins but it wasn't as popular as Mary Poppins was. Walt had recently passed away and some felt the film lacked his editing touch. Walt still saw his own relationship with his daughters in the relationship between the father and his own daughter depicted in the film. This is a great piece of Walt Disney history.
