Texas Department of Public Safety released dashcam shows SUV catching fire during smuggling chase

The Texas Department of Public Safety has released dash cam and body cam footage of a high-speed chase and arrest from Saturday, August 3.

According to DPS, a smuggler in a Nissan Pathfinder led troopers on a fast chase through Laredo. The driver, Miguel Vasquez from Laredo, drove recklessly, running through neighborhoods and ignoring stop signs. The SUV caught fire, forcing him to stop and run away on foot.

Troopers quickly caught Vasquez and arrested him along with five illegal immigrants from Mexico. Vasquez faces charges for smuggling people and evading arrest. The five immigrants were handed over to the U.S. Border Patrol.
